Item The Chyhyryn Military Campaign of the Turkish Army in Right-Bank Ukraine: Causes and Historical Consequences(2019) Turanli, FerhatThis study concerns one of the problems in the History of Ukrainian-Turkish relations during the last quarter of the 17th century. In particular, the situation in the Turkic society of the Karakhanidian period of history was the object the above said scholar had been studying. This paper also tells us that the scholar paid a lot of attention to studying the relations between the Cossack-Hetmanic Ukraine and the Ottoman Porte (or otherwise called “Sublime Porte”) in the middle of the 17th century. There has been underlined that O. Pritsak’s concept relating to the development of the Turkic Studies was implemented at the up-to-date stage of the development of this scientific branch in Ukraine, which is also true in regard of the re-orientation of the latter one onto the national foundations. The work aims to analyse the Folk Medicine concept and its representation as a component of the folk world picture, verbalised in that time‟s medical language, the core of which is a set of folk nominations used to denote folk names of diseases associated with ancient medical practices. On the periphery, folk texts represent superstitions as necessary constituents of folk medical practices connected with the mentioned nominal units. A comprehensive methodology of conceptual analysis allowed identifying the basic ideas about Folk Medicine. Based on the statement that the meaningful component of the Folk Medicine concept is realised in the folk consciousness, the key verbalised nominations‟ definitions denoting the disease names, and their compatibility with adjectives and verbs, were analysed. The influence of medical rites and rituals on the semantics of lexical units was proved. The analysis identified the basic semantic features of the Folk Medicine concept, including ethnonymic, colourative, anthroponymic, mythological, spatial and temporal components.Item Frazeologia polska dla studentów ukraińskich: aspekt porównawczy i etnolingwistyczny(2021) Nepop-Ajdaczić, LidiaМатеріали доповіді учасника VII Світового конгресу полоністики, Вроцлав, 20-23 жовтня 2021 р.Item Karlovice Treaty Of 1699: Reasons For That And Its Consequences(2019) Turanly, FerhadThe study purpose - to analise the historical events which caused the conclusion of Karlovice Treaty and consideration of "the Ukrainian problem" in it, as well as the consequences of that one. The Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Tsardom of Muscovy tried to divide the Cossack- Hetmanic Ukraine. However, the military and political union with the Ottoman Empire valid in the beginning of the last quarter of the 17th century was an impediment for the implementation of those tries. As the steps aimed at the occupation of Ukrainian lands by the said states were opposed by the Ottoman Empire. Besides, the efficiency of that opposition depended directly on the international situation of the ally of the Cossack-Hetmanic Ukraine. But, as the Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Sublime Porte lost their power, Muscovy increased its presence in Eastern Europe. Combined endeavors of the Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth and those of the Swedish Kingdom in their struggling against the Tsardom of Muscovy in the beginning of the 18th century were also insufficient to stop completely the military and political activity of Muscovy because of the availability of acute contradictions between the above said enemies of the state. As for the Ottoman Empire is concerned, after signing Karlovice Treaty in 1699, despite the Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth's suffering from running attacks of Muscovy, it kept on being in peace with Muscovy and even supported that one, "the Ukrainian problem" was unsettled, and it was very actual in the international policy of the Ottoman Empire. Hence, the purpose of this study is to interpret some data from Turkish- Ottoman and Ukrainian written sources, particularly from the historiography, which contain the principal aspects, as well as preconditions and consequences of separate events that took place during the respective historical process. The set up purpose of the study was achieved by studying the level of the Karlovice Treaty effect on the process of the international relations between the above aid countries and of rising of a geopolitical system in Eastern Europe. The study methodology is based on the principles of historism, objective analysis, interdisciplinary of making a study, identification of the authenticity and informational value of the identified data and facts, as well on the application of interpreting the respective historical events with taking into account the data available in Turkish- Ottoman and Ukrainian written sources and historiography. In the study there were applied methods of the historiographic, terminological, typological and comparativistic analyses. The scientific novelty of the study is a civilisational comprehension of the history of relations between the states-parties to Karlovice Treaty, and also that of "the Ukrainian problem" reflected in that treaty. The Treaty resulted in a rise of a new geopolitical system in Eastern Europe in general, and on the Balkans in particular.Item The military cooperation between the Crimean Khanate and the Zaporozhian Host in the second quarter of the XVIIth century(2019) Turanly, FerhadThe purpose of the study ‒ analysis of the historical events associated with the development of the formation process of the military and political alliance which was in force from the time of the end of the Khotyn War till the 40s of the 17th century. The set up aim has been achieved on the base of observing the general theoretical and methodological principles of sources studying, so as to provide identification of the typical features of the above said historical events. The study methodology is based on keeping in line with the principles of historism and historical sources-studying, those ones of objectiveness and specific historical systematicity, as well as on the principles of interdisciplinary approach, identification of the truth and informational value of the identified data and facts. While carrying this study, there have been applied the general historical methods of the historiographic, terminological and typological analyses, as well as the comparativistics method. The academic novelty of the study is a civilisational сcomprehension of the Historiography of Ukraine in the context of a renovation and development of its statehood, and the application of the author’s methodology for the interpretation of the respective historical events with taking into account the information available in Turkish-Ottoman written sources. Conclusions. The sources-based study we have carried out of contents of the Turkish Ottoman written documents, where there are available data about the Cossack-Hetmanic Ukraine in the first half of the 17th century and about its relationships with the Ottoman Empire, gives us grounds to make the following conclusions: 1) the Khotyn Military Campaign became a historical event, which noticeably changed the correlation between the military and political forces in Eastern Europe and in the Northern Black-Sea Area, while the consequences of that campaign were as follows: а) destabilisation of the domestic situation in the Ottoman Empire, hence – a further decrease in the capabilities of that state to keep holding its military and political positions in the above said regions; b) emergence of tendencies to making actions in the foreign policy of the Crimean Khanate against the central power; c) a further rise of the military power of the Zaporozhian Sich and transformation of the "Cossack factor" into an important component of the international relations in Eastern Europe and in the Northern Black-Sea Area; 2) a crisis in the domestic situation, which was one of the most negative consequences for the Ottoman Empire after the defeats of its military forces in the Khotyn Military campaign, resulted in incapability of this state to provide help to the Crimean Khanate in suppressing by that the protesting movement of the population, and that made the ruling circlers of the Crimean Khanate search a political union with the Zaporozhian Sich, that in the second quarter of the 17th century turned into one of the most powerful at that time military force, which both the Ottoman Empire and the Polish and Lithuanian Commonwealth had to think of in their activities. It was this fact that became a pre-condition for strengthening the military and political cooperation between the Cossack-Hetmanic Ukraine and the Crimean Ulus. However, such a scenario of the events made it possible a development of the cultural relations between these countries which require making further studies.Item The Motive of Discrepancy in Hryhorii Skovoroda’s Works(2022) Petrenko-Tseunova, OlhaThe article explores the discrepancy of the form and the content as a philosophical, moral and axiological problem in the works of Hryhorii Skovoroda. Using the phenomenological reading and structural analysis, the author investigates the interaction between the form and the content in treatises, soliloquies, poems, and letters of Skovoroda. The intellectual and aesthetic background of the Baroque epoch to a large extent explains why this motive of discrepancy occupies a prominent place among the writings of the Ukrainian philosopher. The article analyzes the main plots, in which the discrepancy is revealed: vocation against non-congenial work; a real friend and a fl unkey; the truth and a false thing; and the heavenly and an earthly city. After considering all these aspects and other crucial issues, it is concluded what makes the problem of discrepancy an invariant motive in the works of Hryhorii Skovoroda.Item Naval campaigns of the Ukrainian Cossack fleet to the Fortress of Sinop(İdeal Kültür Yayıncılık, 2023) Turanly, Ferhad; Uydu Yücel, Mualla; Kavak, Nuri; Aktaş, SemaThe goal of the Study is to consider the problem of naval campaigns of Ukrainian Cossack Fleet to Turkish possessions in the Black Sea Area, and particularly to the Fortress of Sinop. On the ground of authentic Turkic-Osman and Ukrainian written sources, the author explains the reasons for strengthening of naval forces of the Zaporozhian Host that for a long period of time carried out successful campaigns against towns and fortresses of the Ottoman Empire. In this context, there have been identified the chronology of the mentioned events, as well as their consequences. The author clarifies the areal and the routes that occurred to be important for establishing trade relations. The research also concerns the issue and circumstances of establiching political and military unions between the Zaporozhian Host and the Crimean Khanate. Formation and strengthening of Ukrainian Cossack Army at the beginning of the 17th century enabled them to participate in different military campaigns, particularly in the war between Austrian and Osman Empires. In this relation, the paper reveals that the Cossack factor was not an additional military support in the external policy of the Habsburgs, but the factor of strategic significance and influence on the external and internal policies of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the struggle for gaining the Polish throne. The Study was conducted observing the principles of the historism and historic source-studying systematics. The principles of interdisciplinary approach and the norm of authenticity identification of informational value of the data and facts were also identified. Periodisation of the development of the Ukrainian Turkic Studies has been made, and its goal and objectives have been identified. In particular, the paper proves the needs for studying the Turkic-Ottoman written documents concerning the History of the Cossack-Hetman Ukraine taking into account the civilisational measurement. This paper demonstrates the importance of the Ukrainian Language in the Turkish-Ukrainian diplomatic correspondence, issues of methodology of scientific studying and publication of oriental written documents relating to the History of Ukraine, including the ones in the Turkic languages. The idea has been formulated that studying archival Turkish documents is crucial for the formation of an adequate comprehension of the actual Turkish-Tatar-Ukrainian relations, аs well as needs for studying the History of the Cossackdom origin. Such concept of doing research is important for the setting-up and development of the Turkic Studies, and partially for those ones of the Crimean-Tatar Studies, primarily in regard of the historic aspect of the Ukrainian Cossackdom genesis and informs us of repressions of the Ukrainian scholars in the field of the Turkic Studies. The research has been done while observing the principles of historism and historic source-studying systemacity, аnd also principles of an interdisciplinary approach and the norm for identification of authenticity and informational value of the data and facts have been identified. Turkic Studies were started in the 19th century by such Ukrainian intellectuals, as Mykola Hulak, Olexandr Navrotskyi, Lev Lopatynskyi very of essential importance for a further development of the Studies regardless of the complicated life conditions due to prosecutions from the side of the Muscovite-Russian totalitarian political regime. In 1933 the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences was proclaimed being the Centre of the nationalistic and counter-revolutionary activities, which h resulted in a lot of such outstanding Ukrainian Orientalists, particularly Turkologists, such as Mykola Hulak, Olexandr Navrotskyi, Lev Lopatynskyi, Agatangel Krymskyi, Vasyl Dubrovskyi, Yevhen Zavalynskyi, Omelian Pritsak, Yaroslav Dashkevych, Hryts Khalymonenko, Valeriy Marchenko, Mykola Myroshnichenko and others, suffered much from prosecutions by the Muscovite-Russian and Soviet-Communist regimes.Item Philosophical Origins of Methodological Nomothetism of F. de Saussure’s Concept(2021) Luchyk, Alla; Prosianyk, Oksana; Stepanchenko, IvanThe article raises the problem of philosophical principles and origins of Ferdinand de Saussure’s views. The editors of "Course in General Linguistics", C. Bally and A. Sechehaye, contributed to the emergence of stereotypes about Saussure as the founder of structuralism, who for the first time conceptually distinguished language and speech based on dichotomy, established the systemic nature of language as an abstract entity, developed a bilateral psychological theory of sign and divided linguistics into the synchronous and the diachronic. This prevented the synthesis of Saussure’s concept as a holistic and internally consistent anthropocentric system of views. The conceptual analysis of the fundamental theses of Saussure’s concept, given in Saussure’s autographed materials, which appeared in 2002, showed that its most important feature is that it was an anthropocentric nomothetic proposition aimed at creating the foundations for the study of human language activity as such, language as such and speech as such. The Kantian idea of anthropocentric transcendentalism can be considered the principal philosophical source of Saussure’s nomothetic project.
