Abstract
У статті розглянуто процеси виникнення, становлення та реформування професійної підготовки фахівців із бібліотекознавства та інформології у США. Проаналізовано роботи вітчизняних та зарубіжних науковців, присвячені питанням вивчення професійної підготовки фахівців із бібліотекознавства та інформології.

This article investigates the processes of development and reforming of professional training in LIS in the USA. Analyzed works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers dedicated to the issues of LIS education and
Information Science connection to the librarianship helps to observe better the structure of LIS education in the USA. The current tendencies of LIS education in the USA had been extracted in terms of this research which helped to regard closely the structure and content of the system of higher LIS education in the USA. As a result of this research an idea of modernizing LIS education in Ukraine has been established.
