It specifically focuses on the changes in Die Linke's policies towards Ukraine before and after the onset of the full-scale war in 2022 and the influence of varying positions held by party members on the decision-making process. By analyzing intra-party dynamics, power distribution, and key figures within the party, this study fills a gap in the existing scientific research on the Left Party's policies towards Ukraine before and after the beginning of the Russian war in 2022. The relevance of the Left Party's policies toward Russia and Ukraine stems from several factors. Firstly, the party's historical connections with the Soviet Union and its prominent role in German politics make its stance on these issues significant for understanding broader dynamics in German foreign policy. Secondly, Germany's reliance on Russian gas and concerns regarding the potential influence of commercial interests on German politicians and entrepreneurs further highlight the importance of this topic. Lastly, despite extensive research on German foreign policy towards Russia and Ukraine, more explicit information is needed to focus on the attitudes of German political parties, including the Left Party, towards Ukraine. The Left Party's position on the Ukrainian conflict is characterized as complex and evolving, reflecting internal debates and divisions within the party. While the party's official stance condemns Putin's violation of international law and advocates for diplomacy, the statements and actions of prominent party figures like Wagenknecht present a more nuanced perspective. The Left Party's stance on the Ukrainian conflict has sparked discussions and controversies within the political landscape. The study's findings support the hypothesis, emphasizing the impact of the conflict on the party's popularity and the diverse range of opinions within the party itself.Item Cприйняття молодими парами шлюбу та сім’ї в контексті їх життєвого шляху(2020) Коваленко, Карина; Злобіна, ОленаМета: визначити бачення молодими людьми сім’ї та шлюбу як частини життєвого шляху. The following paper uses case study as a method to answer the research question. This work consists of five chapters and conclusions. The first chapter discusses the research topic, defines the purpose of the research, and provides a literature review on the topic. The second chapter outlines the theoretical basis of the research. The third chapter examines the research method and presents an operationalized structure of analysis based on the model of democratic consolidation by Linz and Stepan as well as the external incentives model by F. Schimmelfennig and U. Sedelmeier. The fourth chapter is devoted to the analysis of the process of democratic consolidation in Georgia and Ukraine based on the operationalized model of democratic consolidation by H. Linz and A. Stepan. The fifth chapter evaluates the effectiveness of the EU conditionality policy using the operationalized model of external incentives by F. Schimmelfennig and U. Sedelmeier. The research showed that Ukraine has been slightly more successful in consolidating its democracy than Georgia due to a better consolidated civil society, more ambitious EU conditionality policy and less pervasive influence of veto players on the political life of the country. While Ukraine’s party system is characterized by pluralism, in Georgia most power is concentrated in the hands of one party "Georgian Dream" under the influence of oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, which ultimately led to the gradual deterioration of all indices of democracy. The effectiveness of the EU conditionality policy has not been fully exhausted due to the lack of a clear membership perspective, new incentives, punishment mechanisms for failure to implement reforms, as well as clear criteria and indicators for evaluating the progress. On the part of the target countries, the effectiveness of the EU’s policy of conditionality is weakened by the influence of veto players on political life, the unfavorable geopolitical and domestic situation, as well as availability of alternative rewards with lower adoption costs and losses for the government in power.Item Family planning: knowledge, attitude and practice of the use of modern contraceptive amongst foreign students(2020) Tochukwu, Anyaoha; Bronikova, SvitlanaСмертність дітей і матерів, потурання прав жінок і зневажливе ставлення до їхнього здоров’я та благополуччя, поширення ВІЛ / СНІДу – далеко не весь перелік проблем, пов’язаних із відсутністю належної обізнаності та відповідно серйозного ставлення партнерів до використання сучасних методів контрацепції. Відтак, робота магістранта з Нігерії А.Точукву є вельми актуальною не лише для африканських студентів.Item Inequality in maternal and child healthcare service utilization in Nigeria(2022) Chinwe, Nnenna; Vernyhor, YuliiaThe study is an attempt to ascertain the determinants as well as the extent of inequality in maternal and child healthcare utilization in Nigeria. Item National identity of Southern and Eastern Ukraine’s population on the eve of the full-scale Russo-Ukrainian war(2022) Kuzmenko, Hlib; Osypchuk, AnnaWriting of this thesis started back in 2021 – about one year before the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine. Initially, it was planned as a contribution to facilitation of Ukraine’s reintegration of those regions in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts that had been occupied by Russia in 2014-2015. However, the focus had been shifted in February 2022, when I was taking cover in a shelter during Russia’s airstrike. Not surprisingly, a significant share of this paper was being written during missile attacks – except for the small breaks to play "Uno" with my nieces, cousin, and our new friends from the shelter. This work and opportunities that it, hopefully, opens are dedicated to men and women who have been fighting for Ukraine in combat, as well as to volunteers who have been helping them. For they are the ones who gave me the privilege to worry about this thesis at all. Item Quality of dietary recommendations: to reduce obesity (Adolescents in Uyo and Kyiv as case-study)(2022) Wisdom, Edet; Kurpita, VolodimirObesity is a common, serious, and costly disease. However, Diet intake has been a major factor in determining the obesity epidemic. We need world measures across all age groups to address these elements and we need them now. Consuming a healthy diet throughout the life-course helps to prevent malnutrition in all its forms as well as a range of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and conditions.Item Review of interventions to address postpartum depression and their feasibility for jos, plateau state Northern Nigerian women(2022) Nwachukwu, Ijeoma; Мажная, АльонаAfter pregnancy and birth, psychological problems are common, and with a global prevalence of 10– 15 percent. It's crucial to be aware of mental health issues, particularly for mothers, this is because if they go untreated, they can cause serious problems for the mother, her child, and the entire family.Even with the primary focus being on reducing maternal and newborn mortality while promoting infant physical health, maternal mental health care is still largely neglected in low and middle-income countries. The six-week period after delivery during which the mother's reproductive organs return to their pre-pregnancy state is known as postpartum. It is a critical period in a mother's life when she undergoes numerous changes, including physiological and emotional changes, which if left untreated can lead to issues such as mother-child bonding, reckless behavior, family issues, and even infanticide if not properly assessed, identified, and treated.
