The research in mass media field must be based on the empirical data of system character. There are only
a couple of experimental centers capable of undertaking media research of such kind in Ukraine; one of
them is a center for Media Reforms at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy Journalism School. The mass media study
proposed in the article is presented to the attention of researchers, journalists and media professionals.
