| dc.description.abstract | У статті розглянуто, як у сучасній літературі фентезі відображають проблему кризи ідентичності у плинній сучасності. Автор статті пояснює причини виникнення цієї соціальної проблеми, а також детально аналізує ситуації, зображені у циклах фентезі "Відьмацька сага" Анджея Сапковського, "Пісня Льоду й Полум’я" Джорджа Мартіна та "Зворотний бік" Дари Корній, у яких криза ідентичності може мати місце. Окрім того, у статті йдеться про запропоновані у фентезі-наративах способи подолання кризи ідентичності. | uk_UA |
| dc.description.abstract | The article examines how the problem of identity crisis in liquid modernity is represented in contemporary fantasy fiction. Living in the fast-paced ever-changing world appears to be troublesome for many. Unable to keep up, but constantly urged to change along with the world around them, people find themselves outside their comfort zones, uncertain, unsafe, and insecure. In order to regain their lost control over their lives, they tend to discard personality which has brought them in such a condition and apply another which they believe can restore their sense of certainty. However, the outcome of these changes is often the opposite, and instead of returning to their comfort zones, people experience identity crisis. The article explores three instances depicted in the fantasy series of choice – Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher Saga, George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, and Dara Korniy’s The Other Side – in which the identity crisis may occur: when a new identity fails to protect the person from the past haunting them; when a new identity fails to satisfy the person’s need of comfort urging them to constantly change identities; and when a new identity (usually a worse one) that was obtained during a traumatic event suppresses the former. Additionally, the article observes the solutions for overcoming the problem of identity crisis suggested by the examined fantasy series. | en_US |
