Abstract
The article analyzes the structural components and typology of the art market as part of economy and culture. We propose a system of theoretical and methodological analysis of the art market, which involves analysis of the relationship between its structural components. The leading role in the study belongs to the principle of cultural comparativism that allows the parallel investigation of the system ‘the artist (or the artistic product) – the market – the buyer’. In terms of macroeconomic, art market is part of the commodity market and the global market economy. In the development of capitalist relations in the West (although it is now possible to talk not only about the US and Europe but also include the United Arab Emirates, China, Japan, etc.) financiers include artwork to capital assets, the same as precious metals, securities, and other tangible and intangible assets. Today, the global economic market is a work of art investment attractiveness, measure risk and return. It should be understood that the development of the art market is not linear. Particular circumstances affect its development, such as autonomy (or dependence) of the cultural field, legislative instances, the individual role of an artist. All of these elements together determine the pace and direction, strategies and successes, possible future paths of the local and global art market. Summarizing the above, we define the art market as a mechanism of interaction between the producer of artistic product (the author of the work) or the owner of the work (secondary market) and a consumer (a buyer of the work), which occurs through intermediaries by the economic laws of supply and demand, that is, pricing and competition in the space of a certain segment of art. The art market is characterized by a unique created product, the impact on the pricing and seller-buyer relationship from the social and cultural situation, and the information environment, and meets all the characteristics of overall markets.
