dc.description.abstractThe paper proposes multidimensional ordering, which generalizes ordinary linear one-dimensional ordering (sorting). We demonstrate possibilities of improved clearness and convenience of user interface. We review methods for saving the results of multidimensional sorting in the source code. The orderly arrangement of objects facilitates a quick search in a collection of data. People are accustomed to examining a set of objects and working with objects that are located in a real, three-dimensional world. Housewives lay out cookware in a certain order on shelves in cabinets and drawers. To make it easier for customers, in shop-windows and on store shelves the goods are also arranged in a certain order. During Address Sorting, the data is sorted without changing its original location, and an orderly sequence of data addresses is formed. The address sorting was first proposed and implemented in the Address Programming Language (1955) due to the presence of advanced addressing methods in it: indirect addressing and addressing of higher ranks (in fact, these are pointers or links). The feature of address sorting is the ability to sort elements of one set several times according to different features or characteristics. The results of several sorts of one set can be stored separately and used from several sorts. The paper proposes the use of multidimensional address ordering in order to allow users to view elements not in a straight line, as a one-dimensional list, but on a plane, in two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or of any other degree of measurement spaces. By multidimensional ordering we understand sorting according to many features or criteria and preserving these results in such a way that from any aggregate item it is possible to quickly (immediately, without using search and/or sorting) access the information about the next or previous element according to one of the characteristics by which the sorting has been done. Displaying data sets in multidimensional spaces for users is one of the possible and important ways to improve the information technology user interface.en_US
