До питання часу у модерністському романі першої третини ХХ століття

| dc.description.abstract | На кожній історичній стадії розвитку людства було власне розуміння часового виміру, що втілювалося у різноманітних сферах художнього відображення реальності. Згідно з концепцією автора статті, для модерністських романів та оповідань про місто першої третини ХХ ст. було характерне домінування трьох основних типів часу: лінійного, циклічного часу і тривання – і поступове ускладнення часової парадигми. Лінійна концепція часу передбачає чітко визначений розвиток сюжету від зав’язки до розв’язки, конкретність топоніміки, прив’язаність до історичної епохи, завершеність творів, а також "конкретність" і "реальність образів". У творах із циклічним типом часу фактично немає розвитку персонажа, доленосних подій і класичної літературної інтриги. Для творів, у яких домінує тривання, характерний уривчастий сюжет, де дрібні події постають із неочікуваного ракурсу, інтенсивне внутрішнє життя персонажів, що зазвичай оприявнюється через потік свідомості, заперечення причинно-наслідкових зв’язків, інтенсивна робота пам’яті, заперечення домінування візуального аспекту та суб’єктивність образів персонажів, що постають крізь призму свідомості інших героїв твору. Важливо, що категорія часу у творах проаналізованих письменників дедалі ускладнювалася, від одновимірності, лінійності часу у своїх ранніх творах вони відходять у бік темпорального плюралізму, суб’єктивності, тривання. Отже, модернізм на зміну фізичній однозначності часу, відображеній у літературних творах, приніс гетерогенність і плюралізм часу як важливої категорії поетики. | uk_UA |
| dc.description.abstract | The present article deals with the temporal aspect of the modernist novel as an important part of the poetics and structure of the text. At each stage of historical development of the mankind there existed a unique understanding of time embodied in different spheres of the artistic reflection of reality. From Oswald Spengler’s concept of cultural paradigm follows one of the important features of the category of time: its compulsory correlation with the general discoursive practices was inherent to different phases of human development. According to the author’s hypothesis, the poetics of the modernist novels and stories about the city of the first third of the 20th century can be characterized by the dominance of three types of temporality: linear time, cyclical time, and duration. The linear concept of time provides a clearly defined plot development from the setup to the resolution, concreteness of toponymy, attachment of the text to a particular historical epoch, finality of the text, "concreteness" and "reality" of images. Texts with the dominance of the cyclic time can be characterized by the virtual absence of the character’s development, lack of fateful events or classical literary intrigue. In such cases the author describes the events within a certain period of time that is a cycle itself, so the described events appear not as disposable, unique acts, but as repetitive episodes. Texts with the dominance of duration as a temporal dimension can be characterised with intermittent plot where small events arise from an unexpected angle; the intense inner life of the characters which usually bares through the stream of consciousness; the denial of causality; the intensive work of memory; the denial of domination of the visual aspect; and the subjectivity of images of the characters arising through the other characters’ consciousness. These three concepts of time the author considers on an example of novels by Franz Kafka, James Joyce, Marcel Proust, and Virginia Woolf. | en_US |
