Abstract
Abstracts of the report of the participants of the 31st EAA Annual Meeting (2-6 September 2025, Belgrade Virtual). The full-scale war has intensified global discourse on research colonialism and the destruction of heritage, yet it raises the question of whether this visibility fosters genuine equity or reinforces paternalistic approaches. Through the initiative "Why Archaeology Matters? A Ukrainian Perspective," the authors advocate for a shift toward sustainable, collaborative practices that empower local researchers to define their own theoretical frameworks and reclaim their role in global knowledge production.
