Abstract
У статті порушено питання про розрізнення форм малої прози, що активно розвивається у XXI ст.
Тексти українських прозаїків, сучасні соціо-культурні тенденції та міжнародний теоретичний дискурс розглянуто як підстави для виокремлення оповідки, що є лаконічним, телічним і глибоко вкоріненим в усну традицию самостійним жанром.
At the end of the XIX century in the US, immediately after the establishment of the short story, a discussion began about the short story and short fiction. Since that time the short story was distinguished as an independent genre, and its theory has developed and gained a central role in socio-cultural discourse. The process of the distinguishing of types of short fiction has also occurred in different national literatures. In the article it is stated that contemporary Ukrainian texts give reasons to begin a discussion about redefining types of short fiction. Special attention is dedicated to the short story genre. Despite the fact that Ukrainian short stories exist, they are not defined in one certain term. Moreover, the theory of the contemporary Ukrainian short story has not yet been broadly developed. The aforementioned terminological ambiguity and need for further research signify certain cosio-cultural peculiarities of Ukrainian literature. Short story by Etgar Keret, a prominent Israeli writer, and a short story by Volodymyr Dibrova, a wellknown Ukrainian author, are included. Such illustration demonstrates the typological affiliation of Dibrova`s text to the short story genre and in a broader context, the presence of high quality short stories in Ukrainian literature.
