| dc.description.abstract | У статті проаналізовано специфіку використання прийому безумства у творах сучасної чеської та української літератур («Солодка Даруся» М. Матіос та «Житковські богині» К. Тучкової). Крізь призму постколоніального та ґендерного підходів з’ясовано, що психічні розлади маскулінних персонажів є передусім свідченням неповноцінності «свого» чоловіка в умовах тиску колонізаторів. Натомість жіноче божевілля, пов’язане з пережитим травматичним досвідом війни і тоталітарного режиму, постає трагічним наслідком порушених табу, що поглиблює протистояння людини і влади в традиційному суспільстві. | uk_UA |
| dc.description.abstract | The article is an attempt to analyse the concept of madness in modern Ukrainian and Czech women novels. According to M. Foucault’s views on insanity as a mode of speaking about the truth, the author claims that the muteness of the main characters shows full voicelessness of a human being in a totalitarian society and the disability to pretend on having their own verity and knowledge. Using the gender and postcolonial approaches, it is argued that men`s mental disorders in both texts are the evidence of general interiority and dependence of a masculine personality under the pressure of the communistic power (in “The Žitková Goddesses”, the inversion of male and female roles is noticeable). Furthermore, feminine characters that are doubly marginalized become demented because of not only social circumstances and deep mental traumas but also owing to the fatal, although unintentional breaking of taboos (closely related to the sphere of ritual in “Sweet Darusia”). Such interruption emphasizes the distinction between two conflicting types of power. Each of them is represented by a specific kind of knowledge, which is the outlying law of alien colonizers and the orders, prohibitions, and stereotypes of the traditional archaic society. In both M. Matios’s and K. Tuchkova’s novels lunacy is connected to an entire estrangement of the characters, as well as to the influences of the impersonalized evil. Therefore, the reception of madness appears as the only way to reveal the anomalous totalitarian and military heritage of the past and to overcome its consequences in national literatures. Both analyzed texts are considered to become the remedy for “collective therapy” of posttraumatic syndrome. | en_US |
