Abstract
У статті проаналізовано один із ключових мотивів у збірці Мирослава Лаюка «Осоте!», відлуння
міфу про Орфея та його варіації. Поетичні образи, пов’язані з Орфеєм, стосуються взаємодії
з природою та світом рослин зокрема, взаємодії зі світом людей, стосунків між земним та
потойбічним, властивостей творчості. Особливо продуктивними є такі елементи міфу, як влада
над живою й неживою природою, смерть поета, розуміння таємної мови й мовчання.
The article is focused on analyzing “Osote!” – one of the main motives in Myroslav Layuk’s poetry collection. The poetic imagery of the book contains an appeal to the ancient myth of Orpheus, the poet and mortal demigod. His singing was believed to have a magic quality, the ability to communicate with the nature and enchant it. Poetic reflections associated with Orpheus concern the interaction between the poet and the nature, specifically vegetative, and the human world. The mystery surrounding art and creation simultaneously belongs to the opposite poles, the earthly and the divine. As a human being, the poet values freedom and life, and he is also afraid of death. As a divine creature, he is the one that takes freedom from his admirers and through the poetic spell can control their lives. The conflict between those two selves draws Christian symbols implying the refusal to accept Orpheus’s gift as evil. Ancient Greek images and motives combine with Christian ones, basing on the concept of the word with the help of which one can create and animate. Some elements of the myth are especially productive in the context of such motives as the power over living creatures and the inanimate nature, the death of the poet, understanding the cryptic language, and the importance of silence. For Orpheus, the moment of death is the act of final reunion with the nature, as he passes the river of oblivion. Through regeneration and turning into the tree, the image of Orpheus is related to another myth of the dying-and-rising god, the myth of Adonis.
