    Queering Socialist Realism: Serhii Parajanov’s Early Ukrainian Films and his Transition to Poetic Cinema

    The article argues that Serhii Parajanov’s lesser-known early Ukrainian films, created within the constraints of socialist realism, subtly challenged Soviet normativity, including heteronormativity. These works are characterized as a "double failure" — both artistic and ideological — as they reveal the operations of Parajanov’s creative desires, foreshadowing the queer aesthetics that would later define his mature poetic cinema. Focusing on The Flower on the Stone (1962), Parajanov’s final film before his creative breakthrough, the article identifies two key disruptions of the heteronormative framework of socialist realism: gender fluidity and an inversion of the Soviet Bildungsroman. Through moments of disorientation and subversions of ideological clarity, the film exposes the artificiality of Soviet norms while suggesting alternative modes of being. Employing the concept of a sexual-aesthetic nexus, the article contends that Parajanov’s sexuality — criminalized and used as a pretext for his politically motivated persecution — should be understood as an integral yet distinct part of his creative desires.

    Representation of the Mythological Pattern in the Image of the President of Ukraine V. Zelenskyy over the Period of 2019–2024

    The article examines how archetypes are manifested in the image of V. Zelenskyy. A general description of the archetypes of persona, shadow, sage, child, trickster in the works of C. Jung is given. The relationship between the features of gods and titans in ancient Greek myths and the symbolic image of President of Ukraine V. Zelenskyy is revealed. The identification of the primary symbolic, cultural and mythological images in V. Zelenskyy’s activities was based on the use of critical-analytical, phenomenological, poststructuralist, analytical-psychological and psychoanalytic methods. The study has shown that V. Zelenskyy’s behaviour in 2019–2022 was dominated by the persona archetype. It has been demonstrated that after the first year of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the Ukrainian president’s activities were dominated by the trickster archetype. This scientific and educational study is the first attempt to comprehensively analyse V. Zelenskyy’s behaviour through the prism of archetypes in the period 2019–2024. The novelty of the study is to establish an associative link between mythological gods and the symbolic image of V. Zelenskyy.

Досліджено основні культурні практики, що виникли в корпоративній культурі та культурі самоорганізації працівників відеоігрової індустрії у складних соціально-економічних умовах. Увагу зосереджено на ролі джемів як формату колективної творчості, корпоративній підтримці, культурі самоорганізації працівників, а також на ініціативах профспілок та кооперативів.
