The problem of development of high-speed computer networks intended for support of on-line collaborative
learning is considered. The necessity of development of existing networks and their content is substantiated;
case study of successful network usage, especially video conferences, in education is provided; development of
existing systems for supporting on-line collaborative learning is suggested; a corresponding soft- and
hardware system is outlined, and its services and their technical characteristics are discussed.
