The article focuses on the need to improve students’ communicative skills and abilities in higher medical educational institutions, which will provide successful professional communication in medical field. New methodological approaches in the development of communicative competence have been described and the possibilities of their usage in the current conditions of the educational process were analyzed, as well as various worthwhile aspects which should be included in the process of developing foreign language communicative competences among medical students were considered.
