    An Inquiry into the U.S. Health Care System

    The article provides a brief overview of the U.S. health care system. The historical overview of genesis of the modern U.S. health care system is presented, and current trends are discussed. Policies in the arena are explored and the implications for social work practice are articulated.

    The Kyiv Street Children Research

    This paper presents the experience of implementation of the project aimed to support street children. One of the project components was an assessment of the children who approached and were accepted by the services "Aspern" and "Vifezda". Paper provides and discusses the survey findings, describes three different profiles of "street children" that have emerged from this project and each may need a different kind of approach, in order to help them.

    Social Health Insurance in Ukraine: Why (not)?

    The health care system in Ukraine suffers from a lack of funds, quality and efficiency. Currently, Ukraine is debating a system of social heath insurance. In this paper we discuss a few of the problems that have to be faced when introducing social health insurance: the collection of (sufficient) revenues and distributional issues related to the contributions for health insurance, the importance of risk sharing among (regional) health insurers in order to create stability in the system, and the definition of entitlements, i.e. what should be included in a social health insurance package and what should be left to voluntary supplementary insurance?
