The purpose of the paper is to research the theory and to study practical guidelines on the audit materiality assessment for Ukrainian practitioners. The study of the audit materiality defi nition in Ukrainian and foreign professional standards is made. The comparative case study analysis of the materiality assessment based on Ukrainian and international audit guides is performed. The weaknesses and drawbacks of Ukrainian audit guides for practitioners are revealed.
