dc.description | The paper is devoted to the publication of materials from Soloncheny II (Republic of Moldova), a Trypillian settlement of phase B/I-II – Cucuteni AB (Soloncheny local variant). This settlement refers to the times of an increase in the fortified settlements and weapons at a number of sites that belonged to the second half of the Trypillia BI / Cucuteni A3-4 – Trypillia BI-II / Cucuteni AB. The settlement was investigated during the years of 1952–1953, 1955–1956, 1959 by Passek and Movsha. The author has crafted materials of the last three years of excavations, which are stored in the National Museum of History of Ukraine. Despite the fact that the collection is incomplete, the available data is quite enough for a comprehensive typological and technological analysis. The paper focuses on the analysis of the knapping technology is made and determination of the technological direction in splitting stone. The tools are characterized by a high index of blades produced by using such chipping technique as blow and pressure. Production of flake blanks primarily passed on making thrown weapons points by using the technique of biface manufacture (14 tools). The collection of polished tools includes both blanks and finished products. Axes with elements of drilling are also present. Comparing the materials from Soloncheny II with the synchronous settlement Polyvaniv Yar II (Zalischyky local variant) showed a slight difference in the technique of primary and secondary splitting (absence of one type of cores and a larger percentage of tools with parallel-jet retouch). It can be explained by different traditions in local variants. Comparing Soloncheny II with early settlement of Ozheve-ostriv (phase B/I – Cucuteni A4), the author traces the uniformity in the technique of primary and secondary splitting. But for an exhaustive conclusion about any differences or similarities in technologies and stone tools it is necessarily to use an increasing number of sites synchronous with Soloncheny and of the earlier times. | en |
| uk |
