dc.descriptionPunctuation is the tool that allows us to organize our thoughts and make it easier to review and share our ideas. The standard German punctuation is as follows: period, comma, apostrophe, quotation, question, exclamation, brackets, braces, parenthesis, dash, hyphen, ellipsis, colon, semicolon. Below is an explanation of some punctuation that is commonly misused. Punctuation marks represent an urgent topic for research in various linguistic dimensions and have a semantic content in written form of speech. The topic of our article is punctuation marks, which are known in German linguistics as Interpunktion (syn. Zeichensetzung, Satzzeichensetzung). Our choice is based on two main principles that represent the relevance of the topic: on the one hand, the nature of punctuation and the follow-on semantic content allowing us to study them at the language-system level; on the other hand, punctuation marks are interesting for its pragmatic use, which enables their study in the functional- communicative context. The analyzed material makes it possible to determine functions of punctuation marks – to illustrate the syntactic and intonation structure of speech. It defines two main directions of punctuation theory: logical (semantic) and intonation. These areas, in the functional-communicative aspect, interact in the communication process. Thus, in the punctuation system of modern German, punctuation marks have a functional significance, which sets their generalized meanings that fix the patterns of their use. Therefore, there is a system of rules that guarantees the use of punctuation in similar semantic and grammatical constructions, sentences, texts. Participants of the communicative process understand the use of punctuation, as a result of which communication occurs, and this is a demonstration of the social essence of punctuation. The use of punctuation is based on an established system of rules, made on the unity of structural, semantic and rhythmic and melodic principles. This approach distinguishes separating and delimiting punctuation marks. We use separating punctuation marks to divide the whole text into components according to its category, such as cohesion. Delimiting punctuation marks are used within the structure, embodying such a category of text as its coherence. Punctuation marks are units of punctuation as a system of language, have a certain semantic content in a sentence (text) and help to avoid misunderstandings, or create them when used incorrectly.
dc.description.abstractРозділові знаки (знаки пунктуації) залишаються актуальною для дослідження темою в мовознавстві. Особливо активно вони вивчаються в письмовій формі мовлення, адже тут вони мають смислове наповнення. Темою статті є розділові знаки (знаки пунктуації), які відомі в німецькому мовознавстві як Interpunktion (син. Zeichensetzung, Satzzeichensetzung). Наш вибір ґрунтується на двох основних принципах, що відтворюють актуальність тематики: з одного боку, природа виникнення розділових знаків та обумовлене нею смислове наповнення дає нам змогу дослідити їх на системно-мовному рівні, з іншого боку, знаки пунктуації цікаві своїм прагматичним використанням, що уможливлює їх вивчення у функційно-комунікативному розрізі. Проаналізований матеріал уможливлює визначення функції розділових знаків – унаочнення синтаксичної та інтонаційної будови мовлення. Вона, у свою чергу, визначає два основні напрями теорії пунктуації: логічний (смисловий) та інтонаційний. З огляду на функційно-комунікативний аспект, ці напрями взаємодіють у процесі комунікації. У пунктуаційній системі сучасної німецької мови розділові знаки мають функційну значимість, яка закріплює за ними узагальнені значення, що фіксують закономірності їх уживання. Таким чином, маємо систему правил, яка гарантує вживання розділових знаків у схожих семантико-граматичних конструкціях, реченнях, текстах. Учасники комунікативного процесу розуміють уживання розділових знаків, у результаті чого комунікація відбувається, і це є проявом соціальної сутності пунктуації. Уживання розділових знаків ґрунтується на усталеній системі правил, побудованій на єдності структурного, смислового й ритмомелодійного принципів. Такий підхід виділяє відокремлювальні та видільні розділові знаки. Відокремлювальні розділові знаки ми використовуємо для поділу цілісного тексту на складники згідно з такою його категорією, як когезія. Видільні розділові знаки вживаються всередині структурного цілого, утілюючи таку категорію тексту, як його когерентність. Розділові знаки є одиницями пунктуації як системи мови, несуть у реченні (тексті) певне смислове наповнення й допомагають уникнути непорозумінь або ж при неправильному вживанні створюють їх.
