dc.descriptionBackground: Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has resulted in a growing number of veterans who represent an increasingly heterogeneous social category. When returning to civilian life, veterans face the need for social reintegration into the environments from which they were previously disintegrated. The process of social reintegration is systemic and includes successive stages of veterans' integration into the military environment, disintegration from it, and reintegration into civilian life. The study of this process requires a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of identity, change of status and social roles of a veteran during the transition between different environments. Purpose: to conceptualize the process of social reintegration as a systemic process, the study of which should include an analysis of the social integration and disintegration of veterans. Methods: the article uses systematic analysis to study the process of social reintegration of veterans, as well as empirical research of domestic and foreign sociologists on the topic. Results: The integral features of the social reintegration of veterans are: the sequence of stages of integration, disintegration and reintegration; transformation of identity in the process of transition between environments; the need for assimilation to military and civilian culture; change of social statuses, positions and roles. Social reintegration depends on the success of the veteran's adaptation in different social groups, on assimilation into civilian culture and on providing opportunities for such assimilation at the micro, meso and macro levels. Conclusion: The social reintegration of veterans is a systemic process, the study of which should include an analysis of the veteran's sequential passage through the stages of integration, disintegration and reintegration. The key aspect of this process is the assimilation of a veteran to military and civilian culture, transformation of identity, change of status and social roles of a veteran during the transition between different environments. The systematic and leveled nature of social reintegration indicates its relational nature, which includes individual actions, interaction with the immediate environment, wider social groups and institutions.en_US
