dc.descriptionThe article deals with the formation of a new type of rationalism in Kyiv Academy in the second half of the eighteenth century. Two levels of new rationality are traced, which were gradually but inexorably involved in the academic practices of the Academy. Thus, the first level of influence of European rationalism manifested itself in the involvement of new mathematical classes, where new sections of mathematics were studied; the study of physics, geography, rural and home economics intensified. In the early nineteenth century students of philosophical and theological classes began to study medicine and pharmacology. Thus, the leaders of the Kyiv Academy took cautious steps to bring it closer, at least in some respects, to university standards. Of course, such steps were limited by theological requirements, which corresponded to the basic principles of Kyiv Academy. The second level of rationalism is associated with the renewal of philosophical education, and the involvement of new philosophical doctrines and standards in the formation of philosophical courses taught at the Academy. Starting from the middle of the 18th century, philosophy teachers, including Grigory Shcherbatskyі, David Nashchinskyі, and other teachers, involved influential European rationalist systems of that time, in particular, the French Cartesian Edmundi Purchotius, and eventually the popular philosophers of the Wolf School – Johann Winkler and Friedrich Baumeister. After not using the great opus of Johann Winkler for a long time, the Kyiv teacher David Nashchinskyі suggested to the management to consider the possibility of relying on the textbook of Friedrich Baumeister in preparation for lectures on philosophical disciplines – logic, metaphysics, and practical philosophy. Such permission was received and the textbook of Friedrich Baumeister became the basis for teaching philosophical courses in the Academy until the end of its activity.en_US
dc.description.abstractУ статті сфокусовано увагу на формуванні нової моделі раціоналізму в Київській академії у другій половині XVIII ст. під впливом нових європейських наукових і філософських ідей, чи нового раціоналізму. Добре відомо, що в цей період європейської історії з особливою силою розгортається інтелектуальний поступ Просвітництва – потужного ідейного та політичного руху, який поступово охопив європейські країни. Звісно, розповсюдження просвітницьких ідей відбувалося з різною інтенсивністю, проте впродовж кількох десятиліть це призвело до суттєвих змін інтелектуального ландшафту, політичних пріоритетів і моральних імперативів тогочасного європейського світу.uk_UA
