dc.description.abstract | The EU’s Eastern and Southern Neighbourhoods are two areas of countries sharing either an overland or marine border with the EU. The concept originates from the idea of good neighbourliness which arose after WW2 (Hilz 2020). According to the Treaty of the EU (Art. 8), the "Union shall develop a special relationship with neighbouring countries, aiming to establish an area of prosperity and good neighbourliness, founded on the values of the Union and characterised by close and peaceful relations based on cooperation." This publication is part of WP1 of the SHAPEDEM-EU project, led by Roskilde University (RUC). | en_US |
