dc.descriptionThis article is about the diplomats-alumni of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Its glorious history and contribution to world civilization are undeniable. Among the students of the Academy there were many of those who chose to carry out diplomatic activity. They were students and teachers. Notably, among them was Oleksandr Bezborodko whose contemporaries were delighted with his diplomatic skills. With good reason James Harris, the English Ambassador (envoy) in St. Petersburg, wrote: "Bezborodko played the first fiddle in both internal and external affairs". Hryhoriy Braika (Braikowskiy) began his diplomatic career as the Russian Embassy Counsellor in Venice in 1783. Hryhoriy was also known in journalistic circles as the publisher of the monthly magazine "Sankt-Peterburgskiy Vestnik", which was being published in 1778–1781. Fedir Veshnyak also was the student of the Academy. He carried out the diplomatic assignments of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who led the first Cossack Embassy in Warsaw in 1648 and headed the diplomatic missions in Moscow in April-May of 1649. Ivan Chornota who met A. Kysel in Pereyaslav in 1649. Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky and Fedir Vyhovsky both are the creators of the Treaty of Hadiach in 1658. In this treaty was alleged the independent basis of Ukraine as a state formation and the worthy organizers of the resistance of the Russian military aggression (the famed battle of Konotop). The glory of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the works of its students at the diplomatic fields will always remain in the historical memory.en_US
