Abstract
The monograph Jewish City or Inferno of Russian Israel? A History of the Jews in Kiev Before February 1917 by Victoria Khiterer, Ph.D. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and Ph.D. in History, was published as part of a voluminous interdisciplinary international project Jews of Russia and Eastern Europe and Their Legacy (previously known as Borderlines: Russian and East-European Jewish Studies) of the Academic Studies Press (Boston). During the 21st century, this project has already been known for researches on Jewish experiences in Russia and Eastern Europe dedicated to key events, personal histories, and issues of Jewish life and interactions of the Jewish and the non-Jewish communities, whether fruitful or disastrous. The project has formed a trustful and rich corpus of sources for further research on Jewish Studies worldwide through publishing volumes dedicated to different intersections of Jewish literature, history, philosophy, anthropology, culture, and art under the direction of a board of qualified and dedicated scholars in different disciplines.
