Abstract
У статті проаналізовано дипломатичну діяльність київського митрополита Петра Могили (1632–1646 рр.). На основі джерел та наукової літератури висвітлено головні напрями і тенденції зовнішньої політики Петра Могили у питанні реформування Української Православної Церкви згідно із західноєвропейськими зразками з урахуванням національних церковних традицій. Охарактеризовано діяльність цього видатного діяча у сфері вітчизняної освіти, науки, літератури та культури в цілому, вагомим наслідком якої було українське національно-культурне відродження першої половини XVII ст. Також відзначено унікальну роль Петра Могили у становленні вищої освіти в Україні, а саме створення ним Києво-Могилянської колегії.
Description
The article examines the main aspects, trends and directions of diplomatic activity of Kyiv Metropolitan Petro Mohyla, a wellknown educator, Ukrainian art patron, philosopher, reformist, statesman, writer and founder of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, talented diplomat, theologian and thinker. He aimed his activities at rapprochement of Christian Churches in Ukraine, unification of all branches of Christianity on principles of equality and preservation of traditions, consolidation of Orthodoxy through establishment of schools, collegiums, publishing houses and libraries. The author emphasizes that first and foremost Petro Mohyla was a prominent religious figure, but his profound humanitarian and spiritual knowledge, multidimensional socio-cultural, organizational and diplomatic activities gave him an opportunity to become a well-known Ukrainian figure of his time. The sources of the study include a variety of documents and materials which enable to obtain a complete picture of Mohyla’s personality, comprehensively highlight the main directions of his church and social and diplomatic activities, to determine the priorities in establishing the spiritual principles of Ukrainian nation-building, development of culture, education and science, reformation of the Orthodox Church and its influence on spiritual and social life of Ukraine in the context of the Ukrainian national and cultural renaissance in the first half of the 17th century.
