dc.description.abstractThe population of seaside cities and internal continental settlements in the Bosporsky kingdom was mixed from its earliest days. A polyethnic culture is noted in all historical periods of existence of the kingdom. Gravestones confirm that during the Hellenistic period, the population was more Greek-sindomeotskim. The period from 1st century BCE to 4th century CE is marked by an active Sarmatization, which was especially strong from 1st century BCE to 2nd century CE. Steles, which were found out in Bospore in considerable quantity (though, unfortunately, in secondary use), expressed religious Judaic symbols and show presence of one more ethnic group - the Jews. Sarmatian patrimonial signs, tamgy, were placed in the back of Bospor Judaic gravestone steles. They represented a varying combination or an interlacing of lines, circles and other geometrical figures. The newest finds from Fanagoriy and Vishesteblievskaya-11 allow to date the tamgy on the gravestones found in the 1860s by A. E. Ljutsenko and V. G. Tizengauzenom and therefore to unite both collections. In total, over 30 Judaic gravestone stelas with tamgy were found on the Bospor Asian side. This is almost a third of known Judaic gravestones (hardly more than 100). The archeology only confirms the polyethnic structure of the population in the polises, and the presence of religious syncretism.en_US
