dc.description.abstractIn this article the major impediment to the efficient market functioning is analyzed. That is transaction costs. The concept of transaction costs is rather new in economic theory. Thus, it is not clearly defined. Economists are still arguing about its definition. Their definitions vary from micro to macro level. The article represents an attempt to point out major approaches toward transaction costs. Moreover, it describes the main elements of transaction costs and the types of transaction costs such as ex ante and ex post transaction costs.en
