| dc.description | The article raises an important problem concerning the role of teaching personnel in legal education in Ukraine, namely the combination of lecture's iob with legal practice in the context of prospects of reforming legal education. As a lawyer with 26 years in profession the author uses her experience to analyze the merits and demerits of bringing together the two significant lawyer's activities: teaching and field of legal practice. Amongst the main drawbacks of lawyer's training she names, perhaps, the worst one which lies in the fact that while giving priority to quantity, most of educational institutions offering their sei vices on legal education market actually forget quality. This has led to a critical though widely spread situation when professional potential of those graduated from higher education institutions bearing prestige titles corresponds, in a better case, to that of a speciahzed-in-law lyceum graduates. The author thinks that the first priority way to reform higher legal education still remains to improve the guality of the would-be lawyers training, this being much dependent on the teaching staff. This is a hard work implying the résolut.on of staff problems which will be discussed at one of the "round tables" within the conference. Amongst the ways to enable the problems of teaching personnel to be solved at the stale level the author lists the following: to create the teaching profession market through making up the law teachers register; to intensify the activities of postgraduate, extramural postgraduate and doctoral training institutes within the higher education institutions and start the institute of postgraduate and doctoral training with law faculties so that every faculty and educational institution may have opportunities and facilities to prepare its own scientific and teaching force. | en_US |
