Abstract
Service-learning is a teaching and learning approach that brings together planned learning and community service. It is learning by doing good for others. Service-learning focuses on both an activity that is beneficial to the community (for example tutoring children whose families are having difficulties paying for tutors) and the educational benefits that result from it for the person undertaking the activity (what did you learn in the process of tutoring the children, but also what did you learn before the activity, what did you learn about planning a small servicelearning project).
