Eastern European sheath-ends during the Final Bronze Age and the beginning of the Early Iron Age
(2025) Klochko, Danylo
Sheath-ends are poorly represented in works regarding weaponry of the Cimmerian period (10th–7th century BC), despite forming an important component, particularly among the melee weapons of the time. There are several reasons for this neglect: until recently, the number of known sheath-ends was quite small, thus making it impossible to speak of types, variants or cultural affiliations; also, most of the previously published sheath-ends are spread over a large territory and were published many decades ago. Therefore, some of them may be unknown to researchers due to the age of publications, as well as linguistic and cultural barriers. Over the past few years, a larger number of new sheath-ends has emerged. Some of them belong to previously known types, others are completely new. Their analysis is here conducted using the comparative method. The total number of sheathends now known makes it possible to begin a discussion about their types, chronology and origins, which will undoubtedly develop as new finds appear.

Enhancing Colonoscopy Quality: Evaluating Adherence to Performance Measures in Ukraine
(2025) Hornik, Ivan; Nikiforchin, Andrei; Antoniv, Marta; Huivaniuk, Inesa; Malovanna, Anna; Dzhemiliev, Ali; Savulionyte, Goda; Polishchuk, Serhii; Janelidze, David; Shabat, Galyna; Kopetskyi, Viacheslav; Prystaia, Anastasiia; Murthy, Shilpa; Melnitchouk, Nelya
Purpose. Colonoscopy is a proven screening method for reducing mortality from colorectal cancer (CRC), the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Ukraine. To enhance colonoscopy quality, international societies have defined key performance measures (PMs). We aimed to evaluate adherence to these PMs among Ukrainian endoscopists and explore factors affecting screening colonoscopy quality. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study using a web-based survey among members of Ukraine’s endoscopy society EndoAcademy (Kyiv, Ukraine) (October-November 2023). The questionnaire assessed colonoscopy practices and adherence to globally recognized PMs, categorized as six calculated (requiring ongoing numerical data tracking) and six noncalculated (performed/not performed practices). Results. Of 540 invited endoscopists, 122 (22.6%) responded. The median number of adhered to quality PMs was 6 (IQR, 5-8), with noncalculated being reported more frequently: medians 4 (IQR, 4-5) versus 2 (IQR, 1-3), P < .01. Among noncalculated PMs, most common were postpolypectomy surveillance recommendations (98.4%, n 5 120) and retrieval of removed polyps (96.7%, n 5 118). For calculated PMs, cecal intubation (61.5%, n 5 75) and adenoma detection (59.8%, n 5 73) rates were most frequently reported. In multivariable analysis, adherence to each additional quality PM increased the odds of optimal polyp treatment (odds ratio [OR], 1.32 [95% CI, 1.03 to 1.70]), with photo/ video recording (OR, 7.57 [95% CI, 1.66 to 34.49]) and adequate procedure time allocation (OR, 3.86 [95% CI, 1.18 to 12.61]) showing the strongest associations. Conclusion. To our knowledge, this first national study of colonoscopy PMs in Ukraine highlights key documentation gaps and variation in polyp management. As the country implements a population-based CRC screening program, structured quality assurance, audit-and-feedback systems, and education grounded in international PMs will be critical to improving outcomes.

Influence of calcination temperature on catalytic activity of nanoceria
(2026) Hrynko, Alina; Brichka, A.; Bakalinska, Olha; Oranska, O.; Kaleniuk, Н.; Kаrtel, М.
Nanoceria was synthesized by reaction of cerium nitrate deposition in an aqueous medium without stabilizers at room temperature. Nano-sized cerium oxide was dried at 20 °C and calcinated in air for 1 hour at 120, 300, 500, 800 °C. SEM images of samples demonstrated that the morphology of the obtained cerium oxide does not significantly change with the increase of the temperature of heat treatment. Electron microscopy showed that the average diameter of CeO2 particles varies in the range of 12.4–15.9 nm. Sample element content was determined by the energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry method. The Oxygen:Cerium elements ratio in the samples is in the range 1.7–2.1. X-Ray Diffraction method was used to determine the structural characteristics of materials. It was demonstrated that with increasing annealing temperature, the average crystallite diameter increases from 10 to 23 nm, and the degree of crystallinity changes from 60 % for Ce-20 to 100 % for Ce-800. The characteristics of the porous structure were determined based on low-temperature nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. The specific surface area (BET) of the samples heated to 500 °C varies within 46–61 m2/g. The total pore volume varies from 0.19 to 0.22 cm3/g. After heating to 800 °C, the specific surface area and total pore volume decrease to 17 m2/g and 0.13 cm3/g, respectively. By TGA method was found that 5 % mass loss between 20 and 300 °C is attributed to adsorbed water, while after calcination above 300 °C, another 3.5 % mass loss refers to release from the surface of chemically bonded water molecules. The IUVS Ce 4+/IUVS Ce 3+ ratio in samples was found from UV-spectra of diffuse reflectance; it varied in the range of 1.60 to 2.08. Calcination of nanoceria samples at temperatures above 500 °C leads to the oxidation of Ce3+ to Ce4+ and reduction of nanoceriа surface defects. The catalytic activity of the synthesized materials was evaluated by the determination of the reaction rate constant (k) of the H2O2 decomposition reaction at the different concentrations (1–10 %) at room temperature and within pH 8.0–11.0. Materials calcinated at different temperatures demonstrate maximum catalytic activity at pH 10.0, which is determined by the increase in the content of deprotonated ceranol groups on the surface of cerium oxide with an increase in the pH from 8.0 to 10.0, and the formation of insoluble Cerium compounds with a further increase in pH. The activation energy (Ea) of the reaction of hydrogen peroxide decomposition by nanoceria in the temperature range of 20–40 °C at pH 10 was determined by kinetic data. The Ea for unannealing sample Ce-20 is 127 kJ/mol. Increasing temperature to 120 °C does not change the Ea. It was shown that the smallest value of activation energy is 77 kJ/mol for the sample calcinated at 300 °C. Heating the samples at temperatures 500 and 800 °C causes growth of Ea – to 94 and 95 kJ/mol, respectively. We did not find correlation between degree of crystallinity, specific surface area, total pore volume, crystallite size and calcinated samples catalytic activity. The dependence of the rate constant (activity) on the calcination temperature is extreme with a maximum at 300 °C was found. A sample Ce-300, which has the highest O:Ce ratio (2.08), the largest O content (67.5 %), the lowest Ce4+/Ce3+ ratio (0.15) among the calcinated samples, and therefore the largest number of surface defects exhibits the highest catalytic activity and has the lowest activation energy for the hydrogen peroxide decomposition reaction. Presumably, when heating CeO2 samples, some parallel processes occur. Changes in the values of structural parameters either have no effect or are insignificant and also do not affect the catalytic activity of nanoceria. Desorption of physically adsorbed water, which inactivates the catalytic centers, leads to an increase in catalytic activity of the material. In addition, destruction of ceranol groups on the surface of cerium oxide with loss of oxygen and oxidation of Ce3+ to Ce4+ reduces catalytic activity.

Innovation vision of international, cultural and educational partnership in the field of human capital: The Erasmus + case and its impact in Ukraine (2016-2024)
(2026) Golovnina, Olena; Denysenko, Mykola; Grydzhuk, Iryna; Kovshova, Iryna
Education can serve as a civilizational communication strategy through the consensual transmission of values such as human rights, democracy and sustainable development, among other aspects, as shown by the European Union's core programme Erasmus+. In this sense, through a hermeneutical methodology together with the documentary research technique, situated in a constructivist epistemological perspective, the objective of this research is to critically analyze the strategic innovation vision of the Erasmus+ program as a multifaceted mechanism of international, cultural and educational partnership in the development of Ukrainian human capital during the historical period 2016-2024. simultaneously evaluating its transformative impact on the national educational landscape and on the strengthening of the country's professional capacities. In conclusion, it is stated that the transformative experiences of Erasmus+ must be understood, philosophically, as concrete manifestations of a broader civilizational strategy, functioning as mechanisms for the construction of alternative identities that allow Ukraine to escape the geographical and historical determinisms that seek to confine it to spheres of Russian influence, alien to its authentic democratic aspirations for development and national self-determination.

Development of 3D models for implementing game environments
(2025) Chornyi, Danyil; Moiseienko, Natalia; Moiseienko, Mykhailo; Vlasenko, Kateryna
This paper presents a comprehensive approach to developing 3D models for implementing game environments in computer games, with emphasis on both traditional modeling techniques and contemporary optimization strategies. The work covers the key stages of creating 3D models for a game, including concept development, modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, optimization and model integration. The popular Blender software package is used as the primary tool for 3D modelling and animation. The result is a set of futuristic-style chess piece models with neon lighting on a chessboard, with two robot chess players serving as avatars to demonstrate gameplay. Our approach is contextualized within current industry trends, including the integration of simulation data (CFD/FEA) with real-time rendering, advanced Level-of-Detail (LOD) algorithms, and emerging procedural content generation techniques using GANs and mixed-initiative systems. Performance analysis demonstrates that the implemented optimization techniques, including GPU-accelerated rendering and texture batching, achieve frame rates exceeding 60 FPS for scenes with over 100,000 polygons. The models and animations created can be used in the development of a computer game for virtual reality, supporting both traditional displays and immersive VR headsets. This work highlights the synergy between artistic design and technical optimization in transforming traditional games into immersive modern experiences, while providing a framework applicable to broader game development contexts.

Mental Health of Ukrainian Female Forced Migrants in Ireland: A Socio-Ecological Model Approach
(2025) Mazhak, Iryna; Sudyn, Danylo
This study examines the perceived mental health of Ukrainian female forced migrants in Ireland through the lens of the socio-ecological model (SEM). Using binomial logistic regression on a 2023 online survey dataset (N = 656), it explores multi-level predictors across individual, relationship, community, and societal domains. Results indicate that individual-level factors explain the largest proportion of variance in perceived mental health (Nagelkerke R2 = 0.399). Employment status, self-rated physical health, and coping strategies were key determinants: part-time employment and good physical health were associated with higher odds of good perceived mental health. In contrast, avoidant coping and worsening health were associated with poorer outcomes. Relationship-level factors (R2 = 0.194) also contributed significantly; lack of social support and deteriorating family or friendship ties were linked to poorer mental health, whereas participation in refugee meetings was strongly protective. Community-level factors (R2 = 0.123) revealed that unstable housing, living with strangers, and declining neighbourhood relationships were associated with reduced mental well-being. At the societal level (R2 = 0.168), insufficient access to psychological support and excessive exposure to Ukrainian news were associated with poorer outcomes, while moderate news engagement was protective. The findings highlight the multifaceted nature of refugees’ perceived mental health, emphasising the interdependence of personal resilience, social connectedness, and systemic support.

Tailoring structural and optical properties of Si-doped HfO2 thin films via target composition and plasma environment
(2025) Khomenkov, Dmytro; Ponomaryov, Semyon; Portier, Xavier; Melnichuk, Lyudmyla; Khomenkova, Larysa
Optical and structural properties of as-deposited Si-doped HfO2 thin films were investigated as a function of target composition, substrate temperature (100…500 C), and plasma environment. The films were deposited on Si (100) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering from composite Si:HfO2 targets in either pure argon or argon–hydrogen plasma. The Si content in the films was varied by adjusting the target composition, the hydrogen fraction in the plasma, and the total pressure. TEM, FTIR, ellipsometry, and Auger electron spectroscopy revealed that the Si-doped films maintained chemical uniformity and dense amorphous structure. For deposition in pure Ar plasma at a total pressure of 0.04 mbar, increasing Si incorporation led to formation of homogeneous amorphous films with a refractive index higher than that of pure HfO2 (2.42 vs. 1.98 at 1.95 eV). Deposition in Ar-H2 plasma enabled further raise of the refractive index up to 2.75 through variation of the hydrogen flow rate. An even higher refractive index up to 3.4 was achieved by lowering the total pressure to 0.02 mbar and/or by increasing the substrate temperature. However, the latter resulted in a reduced film growth rate. The extended structure–zone model provided a consistent framework to interpret the observed film morphologies, linking adatom mobility, ion bombardment, and film densification to the deposition parameters. The novelty of this work is in demonstrating that hydrogen-assisted reactive sputtering enables in situ control of the Si content during deposition without need to modify the target composition. These findings show that the microstructure and optical response of Si-doped HfO2 films can be systematically tailored, offering a route for designing high-index amorphous coatings suitable for optical and microelectronic applications
