Abstract
The correlation of sacred space and memorial place on the concept basis of temple consciousness in context of hierotopy is reviewed in the article. The temple consciousness determines functioning of distinctive images which are visualized by architectural approach. The author chooses a definition 'image-simulacrum' with an example of V. Lenin's mausoleum. The article points out monuments as markers of common identity, so changing of its paradigm causes liquidation of monuments not fitting into the renewed memorial space.
