Кантова теорія генія: деякі питання джерельної реконструкції

Abstract

Стаття присвячена аналізові Кантового вчення про генія, як воно викладено в "Критиці сили судження", у зв’язку з дискусійним для сучасних дослідників питанням: який саме автор того часу міг справити вирішальний вплив на концепцію Канта. У першому розділі я відтворюю хід думки Канта в §§ 46-50 КСС при експлікації природи генія і показую, що такі його характеристики, як опозиція до правил, компліментарність смаку, дух як принцип естетичних ідей, пропорція між силою виображення і розсудом постають конститутивним для Кантової теорії. У другому розділі я звертаюся до дослідницької opinio communis, згідно з якою Кант виробив свою теорію генія під впливом твору шотландського філософа Алек-сандра Джерарда "Есей про генія" (1774). Таку думку обстоює переважна більшість су-часних науковців (П. Джорданетті, Дж. Заміто, М. Кюн, П. Ґаєр та інші), але витоки її сягають іще монографії О. Шляпа (1901). Водночас інші дослідники вважають, що значний вплив на Кантову теорію мали К. Ф. Ґелерт (М. Франк, В. Занетті) або суто німецька філо-софія XVIIIст. (А. Боймлер). У третьому розділі на прикладі чотирьох положень Канта про генія (протиставлення генія і (великої) голови, продуктивна сила виображення, пропорція розсуду і сили виображення, протиставлення генія і наукового таланту) я демонструю, що схожі думки були поширені серед різних, німецьких і зарубіжних, авторів того часу. На цій підставі я обґрунтовую, що Кантову концепцію генія як комплексну теорію не можна реду-кувати до впливу одного автора чи однієї традиції, відповідно, для її коректної рекон-струкції слід зважати на багатий і різноплановий матеріал з різних джерел від естетики, пое-тики, риторики, мистецтва й літератури аж до метафізики.

The article deals with Kant’s doctrine of genius, presented in theCritique of the Power of Judgment, in connection with the latest discussion of which author of that time could have a decisive influence on Kant’s conception. In the first section, I reconstruct the line of Kant’s argument in CPJ §§ 46-50 where he explicates the nature of genius and show that its characteristics such as contrast to rules, the complementarity of taste, spirit as a principle of aesthetic ideas, the proportion between the power of imagination and understanding become constitutive for his theory. In the second section, I refer to opinio communis in the research literature that Kant formed his theory of genius under the influence of the Scottish philosopher Alexander Gerard’sEssay on Genius (1774). This opinion is shared by the vast majority of contemporary researchers (P. Giordanetti, J. Zammito, M. Kuehn, P. Guyer, and others). Still, its origins go back to the monograph of O. Schlapp (1901). At the same time, other researchers (M. Frank, V. Zanetti) claim that C. F. Gellert, or merely German philosophy of the XVIII century, had a significant influence on Kant’s theory (A. Bauemler). In the third section, on the example of Kant’s four propositions about genius (the contrast of genius and the (great) head, the productive power of imagination, the proportion of understanding and the power of imagination, the difference of genius and scientific talent), I claim that similar views were common among various German and foreign authors of that time. Based on this, I argue that Kant’s conception of genius as a complex theory cannot be reduced to the influence of one author or one tradition. Hence its correct reconstruction should consider the rich and diverse material from different sources from aesthetics, poetics, rhetoric, art, and literature up to metaphysics.
