| dc.description | The article describes historical documentary materials on the organization, regulation and operation of military investigative and punitive bodies as a tool to fight criminality among military units of the Russian army on the territory of the Right-Bank Ukraine in the middle of the 19th century. The problem of Russian military presence on the territory of the Right-Bank Ukraine is multifaceted and diverse, and therefore it requires special attention from researchers. The occupational nature of the presence of Russian troops in the region was not limited to purely military realities, like the dislocation of the regiments in the settlements, conducting maneuvers, food and fodder supply, etc. It was accompanied, at the same time, by the process offormation, improvement (modernization) and further development of the repressive apparatus of the military-judicial and investigative bodies constituting the institutions and bodies of military administration existing in separate military units. The above mentioned funds of the State archives of Ukraine contain a sufficient information array. That is why the involvement of these records, previously little used, gives the opportunity to consider the activities of the military courts from a new perspective. In particular, it makes sense to analyze materials of definite cases, to determine the links between the crime and the punishment, and to consider the practice of criminal law application in different types of criminal acts. | en_US |
