Author reveals the biographical aspects in the story of the philosophers’ Oriental studies and identifi es a positivistic perspective of Lesevich’s research. Special attention is given to Lesevich’s engagement to Buryat culture inquiry (e.g. correspondence and acquaintance with S.Oldenburg, H. and A. Potanin).У статті проаналізовано праці відомого українського філософа Володимира Лесевича (1837–1905), які стосуються сходознавчої тематики.
