Автор статті простежує, як комунікативні непорозуміння між персонажами, зрештою, приводять їх до усвідомлення ролі Іншого в процесі розуміння світу і самих себе, а також намагається довести, що діалог з Іншим і собою стає центральною проблемою не лише для персонажів роману, а й для його автора.The article deals with various aspects of the philosophical problem of understanding and selfunderstanding, raised in the novel Andriy Lahovskyi, by Ahatanhel Krymskyi.
