Метою даної роботи є дослідження та систематизація даних щодо маркерів домінуючої руки в людей, та використання цих даних для вивчення скелетних ознак ліво- й праворукості на прикладі матеріалів з цвинтаря Вознесенського собору.The thesis is devoted to the study of anthropological and archaeological signs of left-handedness. The study systematized and described methods for their identification.The possibility of further practical use of the above methods for the study of bone material was cheked on an example of skeletal remains from the cemetery of the Ascension Cathedral in the city of Kiev, XVI-XVIII centuries. In the first section of the work the description of the existing scientific literature concerning the subject of research is presented. The second section presents the general features of the asymmetry of the human body, and in the third section, in more detail, which of these asymmetries are related to the definition of the dominant human hand. Also in the third section are listed archaeological markers used to determine the right or left handedness of individuals. The fourth section presents the results of the study of 37 skeletons from the cemetery of the Ascension Cathedral in the city of Kiev, XVI-XVIII centuries. During the study, a positive correlation was found between the asymmetry of the intervertebral humerus groin and the determination of the dominant hand of individuals.
