One of the most productive methods for comparing lexical, semantical and grammatical systems of different languages is the method of component analysis. This method is concentrated on solving meaning problems, since the meaning is related to many different functions of language. The meanings of words in a language are interrelated and partly defined by their relations to other words in the language. Analyzed in the same semantic domain, words can be classified according to shared and differentiating features. Breaking down the sense of a word into its minimal distinctive features, componential analysis of meaning can be a useful approach in the study of meaning, particularly in determining the meaning of a lexeme. Although componential analysis experiences some difficulties and limitations in its application, it is still used in modern linguistics. It is also used in other social studies, because it reveals the culturally important features by which speakers of the language distinguish different words in the domain. This is a highly valuable approach to learning another language and understanding a specific semantic domain of Ethnography. However, researchers propose different definitions and basic procedures of this method, so it is problematic to understand how to apply this method to the language material. In this article we will try to outline the process of establishing this method, its main definitions and techniques. Component analysis method in contrastive researchesArticle
