This allows to obtain an important information about the structure and personnel of the OGPU-NKVD bodies, the psychology of the Chekists, their intelligence-operational work. The article attempts to study the history of the Road and Transport Department of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR in Kharkiv region during the period of structural reforms on the eve of the Great Terror, and at the time of the most large-scale and intense repressions against the Chekists themselves.
