Abstract
У статті проаналізовано деякі аспекти становлення природознавства в Україні 1920–1930 рр.
та розкрито основні моменти критичного переосмислення наукових засад природничої галузі тогочасними ідеологами марксизму. Виявлено особливості процесу поступового підпорядкування наукових цілей на користь задоволення доктринальних завдань партійної верхівки. Успішність реалізації цього процесу у 1920–1930 рр.
засвідчує вибірковість у постановці проблем, зокрема в контексті критики теорії дарвінізму та теорії відносності.
Безпосереднім предметом аналізу є біографія та наукова діяльність Семена Юлійовича Семковського (1882–1937) – яскравого представника тогочасної наукової інтелігенції. Більшість матеріалів (зокрема архівних), на основі яких репрезентовано життєпис С. Семковського, введено до наукового обігу вперше.
Description
In this article some aspects of strengthening of Nature sciences in Ukraine in the 1920–1930s are
analyzed, with the exposure of the main points in critical rethinking of the scientific basis in the nature
branch of ideologists of Marxism of that time.
The author reveals the features of the process of gradual subordination of scientific purposes in favour
of satisfying doctrinal tasks of the party leadership. The success of realization of this process in the
1920–1930s proves the selectivity in formulation of problems; in particular, in the context of critique of
the theory of relativity and the evolutionary theory.
The author reveals the connection of discussion processes of that time in the circle of scientists with the
features of the course of general philosophic discussions in the 1920–1930s, which proves the unification of
scientific processes of that time. Common accusations against all deviations from Marxist ideological
doctrines which were required from all scientists make a vivid illustration of this statement.
An essential part of the analysis is the biography and scientific activity of Semen Yuliyovych Semkovskyi
(1882–1937), a prominent representative of scientific intelligentsia of that time. The majority of materials
(in particular archive), on which the biography of S. Semkovskyi is represented, are introduced in scientific
use for the first time. Starting his activity as a revolutionary, a scientist, and an educator, in 1937 he was
repressed and executed by the agency of Government Political Administration of the Ukrainian Social
Soviet Republic.
The period of strengthening of Marxist methodology and reformation of scientific knowledge in the
1920–1930s ended with an absolute subordination in all spheres of nature sciences to the totalitarian
ideology which had been strengthening in Ukraine for a long time.
