Abstract:
У статті проаналізовано праці відомого українського філософа Володимира Лесевича (1837–1905), які стосуються сходознавчої тематики. Окрему увагу приділено проясненню витоків формування інтересу мислителя до Сходу в цілому і, зокрема, до бурятської культури.

The article deals with the analysis of the Oriental Studies by Volodymyr Lesevych (1837–1905), a prominent philosopher of the second half of the 19th – the beginning of the 20 centuries. Author reveals the biographical aspects in the story of the philosophers’ Oriental studies and identifi es a positivistic perspective of Lesevich’s research. Special attention is given to Lesevich’s engagement to Buryat culture inquiry (e.g. correspondence and acquaintance with S.Oldenburg, H. and A. Potanin).
