Abstract
Description
The article explores the modern state of library science and library catalogues in Ukraine, shows reasons and conditions that have the impact on its development and problems that prevent of its growth. It depicts library catalogues evolution from first attempts of library automation projects in the late 1980s and starting first library electronic catalogues in the middle of 1990s to the present. Particular focus is given to the increased access to information in Ukrainian libraries that has taken place over 20 years. The authors describe major projects concerning the library and library catalogues field and pay special attention to the Library of the National University of “Kyiv Mohyla Academy” experience in this field
