Поховання чи захоронення?

Abstract

У статті пропонується класифікаційне та термінологічне розділення поховань і захоронень на основі археологічних та антропологічних критеріїв.

В последние годы в Украине вследствие увеличения объё- мов охранных и спасательных раскопок, а также расширения спектра методик обработки антропологического материала, интенсивно развивается археологическая антропология. Одной из задач исследования является реконструкция ритуальных практик, связанных с культом мёртвых, а также реконструкция событий и условий, которые предшествовали погребению или сопровождали его. Исследование обстоятельств смерти и погребения, изменений которые происходили с телом, останками и / или могилой, то есть в целом изучение процесса археологизации останков — это задача судебной и археологической тафономии. Такие реконструкции требуют точного и унифицированного описания типа погребального памятника. Однако уже на полевом этапе исследований, при описании погребения и погребальных памятников появляется разнобой в определениях и терминологии. Терминологические проблемы не раз поднимались в европейской археологии и антропологии. В статье автор предлагает разграничить понятия погребения как сознательного, обусловленного культурным контекстом и сопровождаемого обрядами действия, и захоронения как процесса стихийного либо вызванного санитарной или военной необходимостью. Классификация погребений основана на нескольких критериях: таких как первичность, количество погребённых, одновременность создания могилы, целостность и наличие анатомического порядка скелета, тип погребального сооружения, наличие или отсутствие сопровождающего инвентаря, диагенетического грунта и т. д. На основании признаков осознанности выделены преднамеренные захоронения. К ним относятся, например, санитарные ямы и костницы, массовые захоронения жертв природных или социальных конфликтов. Стихийные или случайные захоронения образованы на полях битв, они включают непогребенных жертв катастроф или случайно погибших вдали от своего сообщества индивидов. Еще один вид — остáточные захоронения — отдельные кости или части тел, оставшиеся, например, на месте кремации или «выставления», или на месте гибели.

Recently, the discipline of archaeological anthropology in Ukraine has been growing in intensity, and this is being stimulated by the intensification of rescue excavations, as well as the expansion of the range of methods for the processing of anthropological material. One of the tasks of archaeological and anthropological research is the reconstruction of mortuary practices, and the events and conditions that preceded the burial, or accompanied it. The study of the circumstances of death and burial, the events happened to a corpse or remains and the grave, that is, in general, the study of the processes that lead to the formation of the archaeological context of the human body, are the tasks of forensic and archaeological taphonomy. Such reconstructions require an accurate and unified description of the type of grave and the processes of decomposition of the corpse. Nevertheless, the discrepancies in definitions and terminology appear as early as at the initial phase of the study. Terminological problems have been repeatedly raised in the European and post-soviet archaeological and anthropological literature. In this paper the author proposes to differentiate the concepts of regular burial as deliberate, conditioned by cultural context, accompanied by ritual funerary actions, and casual burial, as a spontaneous event or process caused by sanitary or military necessity. The classification of regular burials (primary single, multiple, collective or secondary burials) is based on several criteria such as the primary context and synchronous nature of the grave, the number of dead, the integrity and the anatomical order of the skeleton, grave morphology, the presence of a burial inventory and diagenetic soil etc. Based on the criteria outlined above, it is suggested that deliberate burials can be distinguished from unusual or casual burials. These include, for example, sanitary pits and ossuaries, mass graves of natural disasters or social conflict victims. Spontaneous, or accidental burials, could be found, for example, on the battlefield; they also include unburied victims of disasters or individuals who accidentally died far away from their community. Residual burials are individual bones, or body parts, which were not recovered for burial, and were left, for example at the cremation place or on the place of "exposed burial" or at the place of death.
