Abstract

Стаття присвячена сприйняттю галицькими греко-католиками Російської Православної Церкви в першій половині ХХ ст., а особливо у перше десятиліття після встановлення радянського режиму.

The article examines the perceptions o f the Russian Orthodox Church by the Galician Greek-Catholics in the first half o f the 20fh century and especially in the first decade after the forced liquidation o f the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church by the Soviet regime. Insights by Sabrina Ramet, Rogers Brubaker, James C. Scott and Ricarda Vulpius provide a theoretical basis for critical analysis of sources, which include official documents, oral testimonies, as well as texts by Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky and Fr. Havryil Kostelnyk The study identifies major characteristics o f the image o f the Russian Orthodox Church common amongst Ukrainian Galicians approximately since the First World War and traces its transformation from the confessional Other into the confessional enemy in the 1940s.
