Abstract
У статті досліджуються важливі відомості, отримані з турецьких та українських писемних джерел. Обговорюється тлумачення термінологічного значення слова "козак", а також пояснюються обставини виникнення та розвитку запорозького козацтва як військово-політичної організації. Представлено інформацію про напади запорозьких козаків на чорноморські прибережні землі Османської держави і, зокрема, йдеться про причини та наслідки походів, здійснюваних українськими козаками на міста й фортеці ворога, розташовані на південних берегах Чорного моря. Повідомляється про тривалі походи козацької флотилії певними морськими шляхами та їх наслідки.
The article is devoted to a study of important data obtained from Ukrainian and Turkish written sources. Discussed is the terminological meaning of "Cossack" word as well as explained are the circumstances of the Zaporizia Cossacks development into a military and political organisation. Our research deals with the Ukrainian Cossacks’ attacks on the Black Sea coastal areas that belonged to the Ottoman Empire, and in particular considered are the reasons and consequences of Cossacks’ attacks on the cities, towns, and fortresses, located on the southern shore of the Black Sea. The research exposes long-lasting marches of the Cossack Fleet along the marine routes, and across the subordinated lands located in the lower areas near the rivers of Dnieper, Bug, Dniester and Danube. As for the events studied, underlined is that, due to systematic attacks of the Ukrainian Cossacsk Army, the Ottoman Empire had serious losses, and in particular: lots of people were captivated, cities and towns were conquered and gained, the estates were destroyed.
