"Народні оповідання" Марка Вовчка в перекладі Івана Тургенєва: лінгвостилістичні аспекти

Abstract

У статті досліджено російські переклади «Народних оповідань» Марка Вовчка, здійснені І. Тургенєвим. На основі лінгвостилістичного аналізу текстів висвітлено особливості міжкультурної взаємодії. Також зроблено спробу простежити особливості рецепції творчості Марка Вовчка в Україні та Росії, специфіку інтерпретації оповідань Марка Вовчка І. Тургенєвим для російського читача. Досліджено певні закономірності перекладу російською та проаналізовано їхнє значення в контексті збереження або втрати авторського задуму.

The article regards the role of the intercultural factor in the translation of “Folk Stories” written by Marko Vovchok. A special attention was paid to the differences between the translation made by Ivan Turgenev and the original text. The peculiarities of the Ukrainian-to-Russian translation of Marko Vovchok’s writing were considered as the result of the translator’s intent to create an adaptation of “Folk Stories” acceptable for Russian readers. A comparative analysis of the original and translated texts demonstrates the specificity of Ivan Turgenev’s way of translating the concepts of Ukrainian reality and avoiding the concepts that could be improperly perceived by readers of another nationality. The facts of the translator’s misunderstanding of some peculiarities of the Ukrainian language and its results – literal translation or partial misinterpretation of the text – were described with a particular attention. The researcher has clarified the key challenges in the reproduction of the meanings and concepts that were exclusive for Marko Vovchok as provided by the original text. This article provides a textual illustration of the common and distinctive features of the cultural reception of works written by Marko Vovchok. A literary analysis of Ukrainian and Russian texts proves the fact that Ivan Turgenev’s work was not an imitation or variation of the original text but was its actual translation.
