Риторична традиція в "Євангелії учительному" Кирила Транквіліона Ставровецького

Abstract

У статті йдеться про втілення парадигм середньовічної, візантійської та барокової риторики у збірнику проповідей "Євангеліє учительне" (1619) Кирила Транквіліона Ставровецького.

The present article explores the reflection of the previous rhetorical tradition in "The Didactic Gospel" (1619) by Kyrylo Tranquilion Stavrovetsky. The explored text contains the features of the medieval rhetorical tradition which comes to the baroque literature through polemics; Byzantine rhetorical tradition that was absorbed due to "The Didactic Gospel" by Kallist the formal structure of which played a pivotal role to Stavrovetsky; and early Baroque rhetorical tradition that was just forming in the beginning of the 17th century. These traditions are of key importance for indicating the basic patterns of Stavrovetsky’s homily writing. A much-debated question is what narrative strategy father Kyrylo used in his homilies and what the origin of those strategies is. The aim of the article is to explore general patterns of Stavrovetsky’s homilies and indicate their origin. The methodological base of the research implies to hermeneutics. The innovation of the article lies in its subject: there is little research on comparable study of the rhetorical rules and their realization. This study might be used in further exploration of the homilies from "The Didactic Gospel".
